About the Artist
Marie-Charlotte Ladenius is a Dutch-American artist born in 1995 in New York City where she currently resides. Marie-Charlotte began expressing her creativity through poetry and creative writing but felt that there was a level of abstract feeling limited by prose alone. Marie-Charlotte attended the Fashion Institute of Technology for Advertising & Marketing and the Art Students League in New York City but is largely a self-taught painter. She works in oils, acrylics, charcoal and soft pastel focusing on surreal depictions of inter-dimensional beings that blend the organic, mechanical and self-identity. Marie-Charlotte has exhibited in New York City and London. Her most recent art installation, IMAGINE, earned recognition from Timeout Magazine. Although her focus is currently on canvas, Marie-Charlotte is exploring digital animation as well as sculpture and stop-motion animation.
